Why pay a membership when I just want the GLP-1 prescription? It is a fair question and the answer fits in two sentences. The membership pays for the clinician who decides which medication and which dose your body needs. The medication itself is billed separately by the pharmacy at its own price with nothing added by us.

If you arrived here already sure you want branded Wegovy or Zepbound and already tired of being sold things, we will try to respect that. We will say plainly what the $299 a month buys and what it does not buy. We will also say who should skip it.

Key Takeaways
  • The $299/month membership pays for clinician decision-making, not the medication itself.
  • Medication is billed separately by the pharmacy at its own price with no markup added.
  • The first two months cost $598, held on your card but charged only once a clinician accepts you.
  • From month three, the membership is $299 a month and cancellable any time.
  • The membership includes four lab panels a year covering Apolipoprotein B (ApoB), Lipoprotein (A), Hs-CRP, Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), Lipid Panel, Standard, Fasting Insulin and more.
  • We prescribe only branded, FDA-approved GLP-1s (Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic, Mounjaro), never compounded.

The short answer

A prescription is the last step of a decision. The membership pays for the steps before it. Before a GLP-1 is written, someone has to look at your blood sugar and your thyroid and your lipids and your blood pressure and your history. Someone has to choose between semaglutide and tirzepatide and decide where to start and how slowly to move. Someone also has to be reachable in month four when the dose is climbing and you feel nauseated or the scale has stopped moving.

Services built around the prescription tend to treat those decisions as overhead and compress them. We treat them as the product. That is the whole difference. It is why we say one flat fee for the doctor and zero markup on the medicine.

What a prescription alone leaves out

The approved trials were not run on people who skipped the medical work. In STEP 1 adults with overweight or obesity who took semaglutide 2.4 mg lost weight on average over 68 weeks alongside lifestyle support. In SURMOUNT-1 tirzepatide produced average losses at the higher doses over 72 weeks. Those are trial averages. Individual results vary a great deal and no one can promise you a number.

What the trials do show is a pattern of supervised care. Participants were screened and monitored and given counseling. A prescription-only service gives you the pen without most of that structure. Four things tend to go unexamined.

  • The reason the weight is there. Insulin resistance and an underactive thyroid and perimenopause and sleep apnea all change what a GLP-1 can do for you.
  • The starting point. Without a baseline you cannot tell later whether the medication improved your ApoB or your A1c or your liver markers.
  • The dose. The right dose is the lowest one that works for you. That is a clinical judgment that needs your labs and your symptoms side by side.
  • The exit. At some point you will want to know whether you can lower the dose or stop. Someone who has followed your numbers can answer that honestly.
Clinical note

Insulin resistance and an underactive thyroid and perimenopause and sleep apnea all change what a GLP-1 can do for you, which is part of why the starting point and the reason the weight is there need to be understood before a dose is chosen.

The two charges, kept apart

We never bundle the doctor and the drug into one number. They are two separate charges from two separate parties.

The two charges, kept apart

Membership vs. medication billing

The membership starts with the first two months. We hold $598 on your card at sign-up. It is a hold and not a charge. It is charged only once a clinician accepts you into care. If the clinician cannot accept you the hold is released and you are never charged. Once you are accepted the first two months are charged and are not refundable. From month three the membership is $299 a month and you can cancel any time.

GoodLife Health. Labs, clinician, medicine, platform, $299 a month: quarterly labs, your clinician, guided GLP-1s, your data in one place. Check eligibility.GoodLife Health. Your labs, your clinician, your medicine, your data. One place. Comprehensive labs every 90 days, a board-certified clinician, branded GLP-1s when indicated, and a platform that holds it all, $299 a month. Check your eligibility.

What a year looks like in numbers

We would rather show the arithmetic than ask you to trust a feeling. Over twelve months the membership is $598 for the first two months plus ten months at $299. That comes to $3,588 for the year. It includes four lab panels.

Medication sits on top of that and we cannot quote it for you because the pharmacy sets it. As of September 2026 the manufacturers published these self-pay prices. NovoCare lists Wegovy pens at $199 a month for the first two fills as an introductory offer through December 2026 and $349 a month after that. LillyDirect lists Zepbound vials from $299 to $449 a month depending on dose. Check both sites for current figures before you decide because they change.

So the honest comparison is not our fee against a free prescription. It is our fee plus the pharmacy price against whatever you would otherwise pay for the same medication plus whatever you would otherwise pay to have someone read your labs. If you already have a clinician who does that well and does it for free then you do not need us.

Why we separate the doctor from the drug

We make money when you get healthier and not when your dose gets stronger. If we sold the medication we would earn more on a higher dose and a longer course. Even a well-meaning clinician working inside that structure feels the pull. We removed the pull. The $299 is the same whether you take the lowest dose of Wegovy or the highest dose of Zepbound or nothing at all.

We make money when you get healthier and not when your dose gets stronger.

That matters most to one kind of patient. If your goal is the lowest effective dose that still gives you the result then you want a clinician with no reason to move you upward. Our protocols are written around your biomarkers. If a dose can come down because your numbers support it we count that as a good outcome. You can read more about this design in our explanation of Aligned Medicine.

When a prescription-only service is the better choice

We would be wasting your time if we pretended the membership fits everyone. These situations point somewhere else.

  • You already see a physician who orders your labs and manages your GLP-1 and answers your messages. Keep that relationship.
  • You have no interest in lab work or follow-up and want the lowest possible monthly cost. A prescription-only service will cost less in the short run.
  • You want a compounded product. We prescribe branded and FDA-approved medication only and we never prescribe compounded GLP-1.
  • You expect a guaranteed amount of weight loss. No honest clinic can promise that.

If you recognize yourself in the first two items you can stop reading with our blessing.

What you get for the $299 each month

The membership gives you a clinician licensed in your state. It gives you four lab panels a year covering Apolipoprotein B (ApoB) and Lipoprotein (A) and Hs-CRP and Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and Lipid Panel, Standard and Fasting Insulin and TSH With Reflex To Free T4 and more. It gives you messaging with the care team and video visits and a written protocol that changes as your numbers change. Additional labs are ordered by the clinician when there is a reason and are billed by the lab at its own rates.

We prescribe Wegovy and Zepbound and Ozempic and Mounjaro when a clinician judges them indicated. Zepbound and Mounjaro are the same molecule. Diet and exercise still matter. The medication works alongside them and does not replace them.

The objection underneath the objection

Most people who ask why they should pay a membership are really asking whether the clinician will earn the fee. That is the right thing to ask. Our answer is to make the value visible in your own data. Your first lab panel shows where you stand. The next one, ninety days later, shows what changed. If nothing improves you will see that too and you can cancel after the first two months.

The fee also buys something quieter. It buys a clinician who knows your name and who is not watching a clock. Many people have spent years with eight-minute visits and lab results that arrived as a PDF and the phrase “Everything looks normal.” A weight that will not move whatever you do can have causes beyond weight. Looking at the whole picture is what you are paying for.

Check whether you qualify

Not everyone is accepted. The path is a short eligibility check and then an intake and then checkout and then a clinician's review. Nothing is charged until your clinician accepts you. If you want branded medication and want to know your dose and why then the eligibility check is the place to start. You can also read our guide to what branded GLP-1 medications actually cost before you decide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the $299 a month membership the price of the medication?

No. The $299 a month covers the clinician and the quarterly lab panels. Medication is billed separately by the pharmacy you choose at the pharmacy's own price with no markup from us.

Do I have to join if I only want Wegovy or Zepbound?

Yes. We do not offer a prescription without the clinical relationship. The labs and the follow-up are what let us choose the medication and the dose responsibly.

What is the $598 charge?

It covers the first two months of membership. It is held on your card at sign-up and charged only after a clinician accepts you. If you are not accepted the hold is released and you are never charged. Once accepted the first two months are charged and are not refundable.

Will the monthly fee go up if my dose goes up?

No. The membership stays at $299 a month whatever medication you take and whatever the dose. There is no molecule upcharge and no dose upcharge.

Can I get a compounded GLP-1 through the membership?

No. We prescribe branded and FDA-approved GLP-1 medication only. We never prescribe compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide.

Can I cancel after the first two months?

Yes. From month three the membership is month to month and you can cancel any time. Medication billed by a pharmacy follows that pharmacy's own return and refund policy.
